Nitish Kumar was a postdoctoral researcher at Computational Robotics Laboratory in the Department of Computer Science, ETH Zurich. He obtained his B.Tech degree from Indian Institute of Technology Bombay, India and Ph.D. degree from University of Strasbourg, France. During his previous postdoc at ADRL Lab, Department of Mechanical Engineering, ETH Zurich, in collaboration with Gramazio-Kohler research group in the Department of Architecture, ETH Zurich, he co-invented an award winning (Swiss Technology Award) novel digital construction process named Mesh Mould Metal for building steel reinforced concrete walls autonomously on the building site.

His primary research interests include mechanisms and its applications to different fields, in particular addressing mobility and manipulation challenges. His recent work in the design, control and trajectory optimization for mobile multi-robot systems can be found here. Potential application of this work includes collaborative task completion using heterogeneous team of robots. The vision of this work is to understand the design of this complex self-assembly and autonomous operation of heterogeneous, modular, reconfigurable, mobile, multi-robot systems for advanced mobility and complex manipulation tasks.
